SHANGHAI, Dec. 11 (Xinhua)-- Best Buy, the largest consumer electronics chain store in the United States, will open its first China store in Shanghai, the national commercial hub, at the end of December.

The Best Buy store will cover a total area of 8,000 square meters on the third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors of a building in Shanghai's premier Xujiahui shopping district.

"We've spent lots of time trying to understand Chinese consumers and then adjust our products, service and prices accordingly," said Lu Weimin, CEO of Best Buy China.

The Best Buy store has been training its 300 employees for two months to prepare the opening, according to Lu.

Before opening its first store, Best Buy acquired a 75 percent stake in Jiangsu Five Star Appliance, China's fourth largest home appliance retailer, in May.
