December-12 Taiwan share prices closed sharply lower as investors stepped up profit-taking amid a lack of positive leads and the mixed outcome of the weekend mayoral votes continued to weigh on sentiment, dealers said. The weighted index closed down 153.56 points or 2.02 percent at 7,458.56, after moving in the 7,441.87 to 7,604.75 range, on turnover of 126.41 billion Taiwan dollars (4 billion USD).
