More than 200 friendly guests, including Chinese Ambassador Lu Yonghua and vice mayor of Vienna Sepp Rieder, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.
Both Lu and Rieder congratulated the promotional event for its success in Vienna, and expressed hope that the event would contribute to the exchange of culture and tourism between China and Austria.
Yu Changjiang, director of BJTA, presented the progress regarding the preparations for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, and introduced the tourist attractions of Beijing.
He stressed that the 2008 Olympic Games brings a historic opportunity not only to Beijing, but also to the whole of China.
"China, as one of the influential developing countries, would like to cooperate with Austria, in order to seize the opportunity and promote the development of tourism in both countries in a healthy and substantial way," he added.
Chinese artists presented traditional Chinese folk arts and crafts such as Chinese kites, paper-cuts, Beijing Opera masks. Chinese acrobatics and a fashion show were also part of the event.
