Shanghai Composite Index breaks 2,600-point mark

BEIJING, Dec. 28 -- The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index has broken the 2,600-point mark during the morning session on Thursday, up 23 percent or 500 points from the record high of 2,100-point mark on Dec.14.

The hikes were mainly powered by bluechips such as the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, the Bank of China and China Unicom.
