Baidu Leading Position Superiority in China Narrowed
A latest report on China’s search-engine industry indicates that the market situation will be quite different from the actual present situation. The report concludes that Baidu’s advantage is not as strong as imagined and Yahoo as well as Google has a strong competitive power.
The report entitled “Special Investigative Report on China’s Search-engine Market” is issued by Sady, an advertiser.
Different from the market speculation, in the awards concluded in the report, while Yahoo in China and Google share the “Multi-user of Product Highest Satisfaction Award”, “Best Picture Search-engine Award”, “Search-engine Technological Progress Award”, “Best Search Quality for User Selection Award”,Baidu only receives “Maximum Amount of Search-engine Users Award”,“Best Music Search-engine Award” and “Best Ask Search-engine Award”.
In regard to general search, Yahoo and Google, followed by Baidu, achieved a higher result; while in music research, Baidu enjoys an obvious advantage; in picture research, Yahoo gains a higher support rate.
Sady expressed that Baidu’s superior leading position is narrowing in spite of its growing share. Up to now, Baidu has occupied more than 60% share of China’s search market.
“For a period of time, while the growth of the level research led by Baidu will be slowing down, such emerging search-engine markets as vertical search,forum search and local search will be growing at a rate of 30% or so annually.” Said Li Jun, Executive Director of Adviser Sady. However, Hou Tao, Consultative Analyst of IReserach, referred that those search-engine manufacturers with diversified and personalized service will gain and retain more users.”
Wu Jiong, CTO of Yahoo with Alibaba, revealed that Yahoo News Search is in the process of revision and will soon launch a shopping search. “Until early next year, the integration of Yahoo Search and Alibaba, will get to the bottom.
