The drafting of the law had drawn considerable attention from the National People's Congress (NPC) and government departments, said She Jing, head of the state TCM administration.
According to the World Health Organization, 54 countries have established laws on traditional medicine, and 92 countries have promulgated laws on herbs but manage traditional medicine separately.
China has a long history of using herbs, and traditional medicine is well-known in the world, but up to now the country has had no national law to regulate the sector.
