BEIJING, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Jane Zhang, a Chinese pop singer who came to prominence in China during the "Super Girls" talent show, will join world entertainment leaders Mariah Carey and the Rolling Stones in a concert.

The live show will take place in August, but Zhang will travel to the United States next week to record the theme song "Give your love" with nearly 100 top artists from around the globe.

Besides winning third place in 2005 in the inaugural "Super Girl Contest", a talent-spotting TV program based on "American Idol", Zhang also won prizes in several other national singing contests. She has a rich and mellifluous voice and sings beautifully in English.

The "World Peace One" event will call for an end to war and the pursuit of world peace and organizers want to produce a theme songlike Michael Jackson's "We are the world" in 1985. Other artists in attendance include U2, Madonna, The Who, Yes, Pink Floyd, The Eagles and Britney Spears. But Jane Zhang will be the only artist from Asia.

The Aug. 11 concert will be broadcast live from 15 host cities -- Sydney, Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Mumbai, Moscow, Dubai, Johannesburg, Cairo, Berlin, London, Rio de Janeiro, New York, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

"It's a huge honor for me to take part in this big, special event, and I will try my best to make my own contribution to world peace," said Zhang.

Zhang will arrive in the United States on Feb. 9 for the recording, and will take part in the global concert this August, according to Zhang's management company, Huayi Brothers Corp. Ltd.
