On February 6 the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company signed a contract with the Beijing JustTop Network Communication Co.,Ltd to help Beijing expand its 800MHz wireless political affairs network capacity. This is the third phase of the network construction in the bid to increase network capability in the hope this will enable them to better serve the 2008 Olympic Games.

Beijing's 800MHz wireless political affairs network is being supervised by the Beijing Municipal Information Work Office and is constructed and managed by the Beijing JustTop Network Communication Co., Ltd. EADS has been made responsible for providing wireless terminal equipment, network layout and related support services for the network.

Beijing's 800MHz wireless political affairs network provided by EADS is currently the largest 800MHz network in the Asia-Pacific region. This new programme of expansion will in effect double its current communication capability and users capacity. Upon the completion of its capacity expansion, the network hopes to be able to provide seamless and safe wireless communication services for all Olympic Games venues across the city and their surrounding areas. EADS predicts that the number of capable users will increase from 40,000 to approximately 90,000.
