Chinese telecom equipment provider Huawei Technologies announced on Monday that it has integrated American VoIP application software developer BroadSoft's BroadWorks IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) application platform as part of the company's IMS solutions for telecom operators.
Operators will now be able to utilize Huawei's 3GPP, 3GPP2 and TISPAN standards-compliant IMS3.0 system to deliver Fixed-Mobile Convergence(FMC) services, including voice call continuity (VCC) between different networks, video and VoIP, multi-media conference, instant messaging (IM) and "presence."
The successful integration of Broadsoft's sophisticated IP Centrex application effectively helps operators win a greater share of the global enterprise market. Huawei has 25 IMS commercial and trial contracts worldwide. We further develop partnerships with the leading vendors, and jointly build an open IMS eco-system to provide competitive IMS solutions for global carriers.
Today's news comes on the heels of Huawei's completion of the VoIP network migration of local exchanges in Shannxi Province for China Mobile. The move will enable the operator to optimize its network structure and reportedly lower its O&M costs. This will be China Mobile's first ever large-scale all-IP transformation.
Huawei expects to fuel IP multi-media services deployments within the enterprise market via this partnership with BroadSoft. The move is said to enhance the operators' ability to deliver IP Centrex and PBX services.
