The9 (Nasdaq: NCTY), China's top online game developer and operator, has discontinued the highly-anticipated online game Super Girl World Online and has dismissed the team that operates the game.

The game Super Girl World Online is a leisure online game jointly operated by The9 and the Shanghe Interactive Entertainment Co. with the authorization of EE-Media. The three parties have had high hopes for the game which combines new Internet technology with popular entertainment hotspots, hoping that it could exert the same influence as that of the actual Super Girl Voice contest. However, the game has not run as smoothly as expected.

Interestingly, following these problems with the Super Girl World Online game, EE-Media announced a strategic cooperation with another online game operator, Kingsoft, on March 21st. According to their agreement, all the songs created by EE-Media's singers can be embedded into Kingsoft's games as theme songs. In addition, they will jointly auction the personal belongings of the Super Girls.

Insiders have disclosed that The9 is neither sad nor happy with the poor popularity of their game because the company was able to gradually realize that the game would not bring good results and also, they are busy developing large online games overseas.
