The China Health Association has recently released a report on Chinese residents' hair condition. The report shows that 83% of Chinese residents aged between 20 and 55 are suffering from varying degrees of dandruff, an in crease of 13% compared with 1988. 56% of the respondents believed that dandruff has affected their normal life and work.

Reportedly, the investigation has involved over 20,000 people in 10 cities. Experts conclude that the problem of dandruff first became a general concern of people in the mid-1980s, and the problem has not been resolved in the past 20 years.

Experts explain that according to the conversion of shampoo and hair care products sold (RMB 180 million) in China in 2006, China's urban residents have spent nearly RMB 100 billion on anti-dandruff shampoo products for nearly 20 years. From the survey, this huge expenditure has not received the desired effect.

It is difficult to buy effective targeted shampoo products, and, of course dandruff can not be cured easily. Relatively speaking, the shampoo markets in developed countries have unified product norms and are much more comprehensive.

In addition, the unique Chinese eating habits and work pressure on current white-collar workers are also the major reason contributing to dandruff.
