China's Chen Hong reached the semifinals of the Indonesia Open Super Series with an easy win Friday over qualifier Andre Kurniawan Tedjono who earlier stole the headline by trashing out Kenneth Jonassen of Denmark.
Fourth seed Chen ended the challenge of the Indonesian with a quick 21-9, 21-15 win in the quarterfinals.
"I had no pressures at all in my game today," Chen said after the match.
In the semifinals Saturday, he will play Malaysian Lee Chong Wei who beat Lee Yen Hui Kendrick of Singapore 21-11, 21-17.
In women's singles, Zhang Ning crashed out in the battle of veterans with Wang Chen of Hong Kong SAR.
The 32-year-old, already had two Super Series titles to her name this year, lost 21-19, 13-21, 17-21 to Wang in a thrilling match that showed world-class skills and determination of mature players.
Zhang Ning's loss, following the early exit of world No. 1 Xie Xingfang, left only one Chinese player in the women's singles after Zhu Lin trashed Xu Huaiwen of Germany in three tough games 17-21, 21-14, 21-15.
In another match, Bulgarian Petya Nedeltcheva stole the show in the Bung Karno Indoor Stadium here by stopping local hope Maria Kristin Yulianti with an easy 21-13, 21-11 win.
With some top players already out in the tournament, women's single title is now wide open and provides a good chance for the Bulgarian to grab her first major title outside Europe.
She will face Wang Chen in the semifinals.
