Pu Yi, the last emperor of the last feudal dynasty of Qing Dynasty, was forced to move out of the Forbidden City 82 years ago. Since then, the forbidden city has established the Palace Museum. The curator of museum, Zheng Yongmiao, said that state guests should not necessarily visited the Forbidden City directly through the Tiananmen Square. He said that such kind of convenience might harm the preservation of cultural relics.
Zheng said that the cultural relics preserved in the Forbidden City reflect the 5,000 years of the traditional Chinese culture. Zheng is also the vice minister of culture.
Zheng launched a huge renovation of the Forbidden City in 2002, which became the most important one since Pu Yi left the Forbidden City. Zheng revealed that all important buildings in the Forbidden City will be opened during the Beijing Olympics started in 2008, and in future they will be renovated regularly after commemorating the 600th anniversary of the Forbidden City.
