Guinness authenticators have approved a new world record for a rope skipping event in Changsha, Hunan Province, last Thursday. A total of 3,009 people skipped rope together on the city's Huangpo Road, a local pedestrian street, starting at 8:30 am and lasting for more than three minutes. The event was organized by a local television station to celebrate its 15th anniversary. Participants ranged in age from 10 to 68. The previous Guinness record was created in Hong Kong when a total of 2,472 people skipped rope together on January 23, 2005. (Xiaoxiang Morning Post)
