at Shanghai Maglev Museum, which features models of the super-fast train.

Shanghai Maglev Museum opens yesterday, displaying models of the city's maglev train and offering interactive games that teach people about the train's technology.

The museum, at Longyang Road Station, where the maglev connects to Metro Line 2, includes video and audio clips to explain the principles behind the operation of maglev trains.

The museum is also a part of the 11th Five Year Plan (2006-2010) of the city's Science and Technology Commission announced last year.

Shanghai's maglev line, the only one in China, stretches 30 kilometers from Pudong International Airport to Longyang Road Station.

The line, with an investment of 8.9 billion yuan (US$1.18 billion), was opened in 2003. Trains can run at a maximum speed of 430 kilometers per hour and reach Pudong airport in eight minutes.
