Shanghai Airlines, along with three other Taiwan airline companies, Tuesday announced their first-ever service of offering passengers Tibetan "holy water" during this year's Mid-Autumn Festival Cross-Straits Charter Flights.
China News Service reports that the Tibet Glacier Mineral Water Company, the producer of the "holy water", Tuesday formally donated to these four airlines their bottled mineral water products specially made for passengers aboard such a chartered flight. The company is located at a glacier some 5,100 meters above the sea level in Tibet.
A Taiwan businessman surnamed Luo was quoted as saying that introducing Tibet's high-quality mineral water to Taiwan people will have mutual benefits for both Tibet and Taiwan since Taiwan customers are full of curiosity for Tibet and its featured products.
He adds that Taiwan business people are interested in tapping more business potentials in Tibet, particularly after the Qinghai-Tibet railway started operation last July.
A total of eight airlines from both sides of the Straits will kick off charter flights between Shanghai and Taiwan on Friday, four days ahead of the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on September 25 this year.
