BEIJING, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese and Japanese gathered at a reception hosted by the Japanese embassy here Friday to mark the35th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and Japan. Senior Chinese legislator Lu Yongxiang said the normalization of China-Japan diplomatic relations 35 years ago turned a new chapter of bilateral ties. With the common efforts of insightful people in the two countries, China and Japan have witnessed progress in exchanges in various fields, said Lu, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's top legislative body. China is willing to work with Japan to push forward bilateral relations for sound and steady growth based on the three political documents governing bilateral ties, while keeping in mind the spirit of "taking history as a mirror and looking to the future", Lu said.
