Horsham council officials and other business community leaders fly out this weekend to represent the region at a Chinese trade fair.

Mayor Pam Clarke says some of the Wimmera's products and services will be exposed to an estimated tow million people at the five-day fair.

She says it will be difficult to assess immediately whether the trip has been worthwhile.

"When you're dealing with China you need to build relationships and that doesn't happen with one visit," she said.

"In Shepparton and Mildura, I know they've had some instant success, but it's hard to determine whether we will have instant success or not, or whether that will just continue and develop into something as the time goes on."
