74 awards were handed out during the awards ceremony for the 2008 National College Animation Competition held in Guangzhou on Sunday night, the Information Times reports.

Zhanghan and Chenyin, two students from the China Academy of Art, and Xue Feng from the Nanjing Arts Institute were winners in different categories such as 2D animated short film, 3D animated short film and illustration design.

1,308 animation works from 150 colleges across 23 provinces and cities took part in the competition.

The ceremony also closed the first China International Comics Festival.

During the festival, a five-day exhibition of comics & games attracted a total of 135,000 people from Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau, setting a new Guangzhou exhibition record.

In addition, a forum featuring world-famous comic artists from Australia, France, Japan and South Korea was held during the festival.
