Steve Dickinson
Steve Dickinson is a partner with the Harris Moure law firm in Seattle, Washington and is based in Shanghai as a foreign legal consultant with Allen John Lawyers. Steve has been involved with China since 1974, first as a student of Chinese literature and art and then as an attorney and legal educator. His early legal career focused on Japan. Steve left the private practice of law in 1994 to teach international law at the University of Washington Law School and to head up its Contract Negotiation Project and its Training Program for China legal professionals. He frequently lectures on Chinese and international trade law topics in the United States, Europe and China. After rejoining the active practice of law in the year 2000, Steve has focused on helping foreign companies understand what it really takes to do business in China. Steve concentrates on helping small and medium companies deal with all areas of Chinese law: company formation, intellectual property, sales and manufacturing contracts, real estate and litigation. Steve spends much of his free time on research in Chinese literature, philosophy and art and practicing Taiji Quan and Qi Gong. Steve is also frequently seen at the Yu Yin Tang and other punk rock venues around Shanghai.
