For this Shanghai native, life is all about seeking out challenge and adventure. After 14 years on Chongming Island, Zat, a product of the Cultural Revolution, didn't make life choices that met her parent's expectations. In 2001, she quit her "iron-bowl" teaching job in a government-run school and decided to jump into journalism.

She got her start at That's Shanghai magazine and now works at Shanghai Talk.

She also volunteers for Second Chance Animal Aid. Her loves: her cats, reading, good movies, traveling, sports, sleeping, men who speak Italian and, occasionally, playing video games.
