            <description><![CDATA[Survey that measures the pulse of Singapore consumers ranks 'Straits Times' in 8th place for favorite brands</P><p>The Straits TimesThursday, April 9, 2009</P><p>By Jessica Lim</P><p>FOUR local brands -- Starhub, NTUC FairPrice, The Straits Times and SingTel -- have made it to the top 10 list of Singapore's favourite brands.</P><p>The list, based on an Internet survey commissioned by independent brand arbiter Superbrands, polled 1,500 consumers aged between 18 and 55 here.</P><p>The survey, run in January and February and conducted in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong by research firm Nielsen, asked consumers to identify their favourite brands across 93 categories. Brand name responses were unprompted and more than 500 favourite brands were identified in each country.</P><p>The result: Toothpaste brand Colgate and Internet search engine Google took the top two spots here, followed by homegrown cable TV and telecommunications service provider Starhub.</P><p>Local co-operat...]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[BEIJING (AFP) - - Top Chinese movie director Zhang Yimou, who masterminded the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, is planning a film to mark the 60th anniversary of the founding of Communist China, state press said.A script for the movie that will commemorate the 1949 founding of new China is currently being worked out, Zhang told Xinhua news agency on the sidelines of the nation's annual parliamentary session, at which he is a delegate.Xinhua did not give any other details on the planned film.As well as directing the spectacular 2008 Games opening ceremony, Zhang is also known for blockbusters such as "Hero" and the "House of Flying Daggers," and has been nominated three times for an Oscar for best foreign film.He told Xinhua he is also mulling an invitation to orchestrate a fireworks display for China's October 1 National Day festivities, which will include a grand military parade on Tiananmen Square.]]></description>
